Reddit Gifts was a popular website originally created by Dan McComas in 2009, then later sold to Reddit in 2011 was a gift exchange site where users were matched randomly and can give gifts to each other as well as receive some. It featured many themed exchanges as well as the most famous and beloved Secret Santa exchange and was well loved by the majority of it’s users. It has ever won the Guinness World Record for the worlds largets gift exchange more than three times. Unfortunately the site shut down in early 2022 due to a lack of profit and hasn’t returned to the face of the internet ever since.

Reddit Holidays is a fan-made project created to support community gift exchanges inspired by the former RedditGifts program. This site is not affiliated with Reddit, Inc.

How the Exchange Works

Participation in the exchange happens entirely through Reddit. Users join by commenting on the exchange post with their Reddit username and a link to their wishlist. This information is publicly visible on Reddit.

Usernames and wishlist links are viewed by moderators for the sole purpose of randomly matching participants. Matches are done manually by reviewing comments and pairing users at random.

Once matched, participants are contacted privately on Reddit with the name of the person they are gifting to and a link to that person’s wishlist comment.

What We Collect on This Website

We do not collect email addresses, passwords, payment details, or shipping addresses through this website.

The only other information we may collect through this website is approximate location (such as country), browser type, IP address, and usage metrics (such as how many times the site has been visited). This information is used for security purposes only and is not linked to your Reddit account, email, or any other directly identifying information.

We do not sell information to third parties and we do not display ads.

What “Free Samples” Are

“Free Samples” are a promotion feature on and founded by redditholidays.com where approved beta, indie, and newly released websites, videos or products are displayed in a small mini-window on our site. The purpose is to help new releases gain visibility. Listings may include a ratings system so visitors can provide feedback—all within the redditholidays.com experience.

Participation (and display) happens only with redditholidays.com’s express consent. By requesting or using Free Samples and reading this, you agree to the following Free Samples terms.

1) License Grant (Limited to Display Only)

If you are approved for inclusion, redditholidays.com grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable permission to allow redditholidays.com to display your website/product content within a Free Sample mini-window on redditholidays.com, solely for promotional and (if applicable) review purposes within our site.

2) Scope Limitation (No Other Rights; No Competing Service)

This permission does not grant you any right to copy, reproduce, distribute, publish, or display:

• redditholidays.com’s Free Samples feature,
• the mini-window interface,
• the ratings experience,
• the layout,
• or any underlying code/technology.

You may not create, sell, operate, or profit from any “Free Samples” feature or service on your own website (or any other website) that is substantially similar to redditholidays.com’s Free Samples concept or implementation.

You also may not:

• modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of the Free Samples feature or ratings system,
• embed, mirror, or re-host our Free Samples interface anywhere except on redditholidays.com as we provide it,

3) Consent to Participation (Express Permission Only)

No Free Sample participation, display, or access to any related functionality is granted unless redditholidays.com provides express written consent/approval for that specific Free Sample listing.

4) No Unfair Competition / No Misleading Claims

You may not claim that you “own,” “operate,” or are licensed to use the Free Samples feature beyond the limited permission described above.

You may not represent that you can offer a Free Samples service to others unless redditholidays.com grants express written permission.

5) Revocation

We may suspend, remove, or revoke your Free Samples permission at any time for any reason, including non-payment (where applicable), violation of these Terms, or at our discretion. Upon revocation, you must stop participating immediately.

6) Payment (Where Required)

If your Free Sample participation requires payment, inclusion remains conditional on full payment. Non-payment may result in suspension or removal of your listing.

7) Ownership

All rights in and to the Free Samples feature, mini-window presentation, ratings system (if applicable), and any associated technology remain exclusively with redditholidays.com.

Your content remains your own (or licensed by you), but your permission is limited strictly to display within the Free Sample mini-window on redditholidays.com.
